Milestone Reached in Sierra Leone as Abanga Farms Receives First Machinery and Seeds for Rice Project

Abanga Farms & Food Systems Ltd. Launches First Machinery and Seed Consignment for Sierra Leone Rice Pilot Project

Abanga Farms & Food Systems Ltd. is thrilled to announce a major milestone in our new rice cultivation pilot project in Sierra Leone. Our team recently received the first machinery consignments for this innovative project, including a brand new fleet of medium- and large-sized tractors with specialized implements, as well as the full consignment of high-quality rice seeds required to jumpstart operations.

This shipment marks a significant step forward in our efforts to bring sustainable, mechanized agriculture to Sierra Leone through our partnership with MEDA. The machinery and resources provided will allow us to efficiently cultivate rice on a large scale, supporting our commitment to empowering local communities and creating new agricultural opportunities. By harnessing advanced farming technologies, we aim to optimize production, ensure food security, and stimulate economic growth in the Mano River Basin.

The project represents Abanga Farms’ broader vision of transforming agribusiness in West Africa by introducing innovative farming methods that benefit both the environment and local communities. As part of this initiative, we’re also providing training and support to local farmers, fostering knowledge transfer that will enhance productivity and sustainability across the region.

With the machinery and seeds now on-site, we are eager to move into the next phase of the project. This rice cultivation initiative is just the beginning of a long-term plan to make a positive impact in Sierra Leone’s agricultural sector, and we look forward to sharing our progress with our stakeholders and the communities we serve.
