Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Abanga Group of Companies, Thomas Abanga was recently in Namibia to hold a series of key business meetings with top Namibian Government officials.
Mr. Abanga, who arrived in Namibia’s capital Windhoek on February 9, 2023, met the country’s Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reform, Governor of Bank of Namibia, Managing Director of Bank of Windhoek, Chief Executive Officer and Executives of Meat Corporation of Namibia and the Chief Executive Officer of Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board.
Attending the meetings alongside Mr. Abanga was the Managing Director of Republic Bank Ghana, Benjamin Dzoboku and his Deputy Head of Corporate Banking, Nana Owusu-Manu. They were in Namibia because Republic Bank Ghana which they represent is currently financing the export of meat products by Abanga Farms & Food Systems Limited (AFFS) to the Ghanaian market since an exclusive distributorship agreement was signed between AFFS and Meat Corporation of Namibia (Meatco) in 2020.
The meetings and discussions would centre on AFFS investments in Namibia’s agricultural sector and the export and distribution of meat products in the West African market including Ghana.
“The visit to Namibia by the MD of Republic Bank Ghana and his Deputy Head of Corporate Banking is also to enable them to explore other investment opportunities in addition to having deeper appreciation of the nature of Meatco’s business operations, payment terms and the sole-distributorship agreement between Meatco and AFFS,” Mr. Abanga explained.
He added: “The meetings with the Namibian Government officials is also to afford the officials of Republic Bank Ghana who are our partners the opportunity to hold extensive discussions regarding the continuation and expansion of AFFS importation and distribution of meat products from Namibia to the whole of the West Africa market including Ghana.”
